Ghailani is the first Guantanamo detainee to be tried in federal court and he now faces a potential sentence of life in prison for the bombing that killed 224 people and wounded hundreds more. The result in this case only adds to the track of success of convicting terrorists in federal court.

Critics, on the other hand, have been labeling the trial as a failure and as an acquittal.  That is simply NOT TRUE. Justice has been served. The system has proven over and over again that it is strong and effective and more than capable of trying terror suspects. Since 9-11, the federal court has convicted more than 400 terror suspects. The military commissions, only 5. Americans deserve justice, not delay. It’s time for other Guantanamo detainees to face justice in the US Federal Court.
